Professional Interior Demolition in Gallatin
Interior demolition (also called a gut-out or selective demolition) is the first phase of almost every remodel. Done right, it saves your contractor time, keeps the rest of your home clean, and exposes any hidden problems such as water damage, rot or old wiring before the new work starts.
We handle full gut-outs and selective demolition: kitchens, bathrooms, living rooms, basements, drywall and plaster, ceilings, flooring, tile, cabinets, trim and non-load-bearing walls. We seal off the work area, protect your floors and haul every bit of debris out of the house the same day.
How Your Interior Demolition Project Works
Scope walk-through
We walk the space with you and your contractor (if you have one) and mark exactly what comes out and what stays. Anything to be saved is labeled.
Protection setup
Floors along our path are covered, the work area is sealed with plastic barriers, HVAC returns are covered and doors are protected.
Utility safety
Water and electricity to the work area are shut off or confirmed safe by a licensed plumber or electrician before any walls are opened.
Demolition
Materials are removed in order: fixtures, cabinets, trim, then walls, ceilings and floors. Debris is bagged and carried out continuously.
Clean finish
Studs and subfloor are scraped clean of nails and staples, the space is swept and vacuumed, and it's ready for your contractor.
How to Prepare
- Clear personal items out of the work area and nearby rooms
- Decide on anything you want to save, such as cabinets, doors or fixtures
- Arrange for a plumber or electrician if fixtures need to be disconnected
- Plan where the family and pets will stay out of the work zone
What Affects the Price
Interior demolition pricing depends on the square footage, how many layers of material there are (old homes often have flooring over flooring), what's being removed, the number of stairs or the distance to the exit, and how much protection the rest of the home needs. We give you a detailed scope and price before starting.
Interior Demolition FAQ
Can you tell if a wall is load-bearing?
We'll flag walls that look structural, but a contractor or engineer should confirm. We only remove walls confirmed to be non-load-bearing.
What about asbestos in older homes?
Homes built before about 1980 may have asbestos in flooring, drywall compound or popcorn ceilings. We recommend testing before demolition. We do not perform asbestos abatement, and we stop work if we suspect it.
Will dust get all over my house?
We use plastic barriers, floor protection and covered HVAC vents to keep dust in the work area. See our plastic protection and floor protection services for more.
