Professional Drywall Removal in Gallatin
Drywall removal is needed after leaks, floods and water damage, before rewiring or replumbing, when adding insulation, and in almost every major remodel. It sounds simple, but it's one of the dustiest jobs inside a home. Done carelessly, drywall dust ends up in every room and in your HVAC system.
We remove drywall from walls and ceilings, including partial flood cuts (typically 2 or 4 feet up the wall after water damage), whole rooms and whole floors. We also remove wet insulation behind the drywall and leave studs clean and ready for inspection, drying or new drywall.
How Your Drywall Removal Project Works
Assessment
We confirm the area to remove. After water damage, we check how high the moisture goes so we cut above it.
Containment
We seal the area with plastic, cover vents and returns, and protect floors to the exit. The HVAC system should be turned off during removal.
Safety
Outlets and switches in the area are de-energized. We locate plumbing and wiring before cutting.
Removal
Drywall is scored and removed in large pieces to reduce dust, bagged immediately and carried out.
Clean studs
Fasteners are pulled, the area is HEPA-vacuumed and the space is ready for drying, inspection or new drywall.
How to Prepare
- Move furniture and belongings out of the room
- Take down anything hung on the walls
- Turn off the HVAC system during the work if possible
- If this follows water damage, let your insurance adjuster see it first
What Affects the Price
Drywall removal is priced by square footage of wall and ceiling, ceiling height, whether insulation is also being removed, how many layers there are (some older homes have plaster or doubled drywall), and the protection needed. Flood cuts are priced by linear foot of wall.
Drywall Removal FAQ
Can you do a flood cut after a leak?
Yes. We cut a clean, level line above the water line and remove wet drywall and insulation so the walls can dry.
Do you remove plaster walls?
Yes. Plaster and lath is heavier and messier than drywall, and we price it accordingly.
What about popcorn ceilings?
Popcorn ceilings in homes built before about 1980 may contain asbestos and should be tested before removal. If the test comes back clear, we can remove it.
